My favorite week of the year

And no, it’s not only because it’s my birthday and St. Patrick’s Day, but Spring is almost here, everything is in BLOOM (including my allergies), and it’s just the best week.

Okay, mostly because of my birthday.

I digress! It’s not about me (much), and you’re here for all the latest and greatest when it comes to the social media news from the past week. So here it is, all curated just for you!

Instagram is testing clickable links in captions 🔗

Did anyone see this coming in the year 2026? Because I definitely didn’t.

Instagram is testing clickable links inside captions, and we could all cry with happiness … except it’s only for those who have Meta Verified.

Dun dun.

Meta confirmed last week that it is starting initial beta testing of links in captions and may make them available to all Meta Verified subscribers soon.

It’s an interesting move, especially now, as Instagram used to be so anti-link sharing, and the move to make links a paid feature of the app is sneakily clever of the brand.

Again, this is still a test and isn’t a full feature just yet (if at all). However, if it does pass the beta stage, I wouldn’t be surprised if Meta limits the number of links that can be shared. At the moment, Meta Verified subscribers can add a link to their Reel; however, you’re limited to a certain number of links per month — something I can see happening with this feature.

While I think having links easily accessible in the caption could be nice, I do fear it might turn Instagram into another Facebook, and absolutely no one wants that.

The rise and epic fall of Clubhouse

The rise and epic fall of Clubhouse

If you had asked me in 2020 if I thought Clubhouse was going to be the next Instagram, I would have told you, “Yes, absolutely.”

This is the reason why I avoid the casino … I never make the good bets.

We all know how quickly Clubhouse rose and then fell, but this episode of Version History goes through a deep dive on what exactly happened and why it all crashed and burned.

And that’s all, folks!

Thank you, as ever, for supporting and reading! It always means a lot. I’ll talk to you all next week!
