Weekly social roundup
Sloooooooow week x3
And just like that, another slow week was created.
I won’t lie, I’m feeling a bit suspicious about what’s happening recently. It’s been quiet. Like, WEIRDLY quiet.
I’m nervous that something huge is going to drop. And/or maybe social media companies are finally trying to make people hate them less.
lolz, doubtful.
Well, until something big gets announced, here’s everything that happened in the world of social media this week.

A must watch deep dive
How YouTube won the streaming wars
We are all obsessed with YouTube, well, according to the numbers, we are. I know I definitely am and have wasted hours of my life watching day-in-the-life vlogs on the daily.
This deep dive into how YouTube won the streaming wars from Bloomberg was such an interesting watch, plus it reminded me of all the old vloggers I watched back in high school.
If you have 15 minutes and want to take a stroll down memory lane, I highly recommend giving this a watch.
A curated list of fun things to read
My favorite read of the week
This is a fairly long read, but it raised a question that I have been wondering about myself recently: “Who is actually using Threads?”
I find myself wandering over there every once in a while. Sometimes, I occasionally use it to send out a thought into the ether, but it’s not something I actively engage with.
Mashable has done the grunt work for me, and I so appreciate their dive into Threads, why it’s gained so much popularity, and the reason why people’s content is engaged with way more than any other text-based platform.
Trend of the week
Trend you need to jump on now
This new Sabrina Carpenter song is catching on fast. Use it to call out myths, annoying habits, or ideas you’re ready to wave goodbye to dramatically.
How it works:
Film yourself looking into the camera, lip syncing “GOODBYE!” with sass. Overlay text about the thing you’re done with, like bad takes, annoying trends, or industry myths, and keep the delivery cheeky.
Who the trend is best for: Creators, influencers, small biz owners, and anyone who wants to give something the boot with personality.
