A Very Meme-orable Week
I really can’t tell if it’s the side of TikTok I’m on, or if it’s genuinely everywhere, but the “My partner wants to show you X, so you better be nice to them!!!!” trend is my new obsession.
There are so many funny ones, and I fear that the entire trend has taken over my eNtiRe TikTok feed.
It’s usually women talking straight to the camera explaining, “My boyfriend wants to show you his plants he has been growing, and you better be nice to him!!!” Enter: the sheepish boyfriend entering the screen showing off his plants while the girlfriend stands to the side staring down the camera DARING you to say something mean to him. 👀
And I absolutely love it.

Customize your Instagram feed 🙏
We’ve been hearing about it for years and years at this point, and it’s finally happening!!!!!!
This week, Instagram is going to be allowing users to customize their feed. Yes, that’s right. You’ll be able to rearrange the way your posts are laid out in your IG feed.
And I, for one, am STOKED as I have one photo that I’ve wanted to move for ages that doesn’t bother anyone but me. But you know what? It’s my feed, and I’ll finally be able to change it like I’ve always wanted to!

Meta
Meta’s AI glasses now have a new feature called “Be My Eyes” to help those who are visually impaired.
Oh, so many new features on WhatsApp: Animated emojis, new filters, create groups without adding people immediately, and so much more.
Similar to snoozing suggested content, you can officially snooze all suggested Reels in your feed for 30 days.
Share the current song you’re listening to on Spotify directly to your Instagram Notes.
Instagram is going in HARD on getting creators on the app through its new “Anyway” campaign.
One of my new favorite features from Instagram was released last week: Weekly recaps and milestones to see how well you’ve done week by week and month by month.
Threads is getting its own dedicated DM feature!
Oh, looks like Meta is in its suing era!! Recently, the company sued a “nudity” app that uses AI to create nude images of people that keeps buying ads on Instagram (uh, can’t they just stop that from happening?).
Your saved folder on Instagram is getting moved to your main profile.
Finally! Instagram has released a royalty-free music section in Reels.
You’ll soon be able to repost your own posts on Instagram. Yes, as in there will be a “repost” button in your feed.
Oof. Meta has been violating your privacy in even more ways! Yay!
Whoop! You’ll be able to rearrange your grid on Instagram SO soon.
LOL, well, your searches on Meta AI aren’t quite so private.
While Edits is still nowhere near as good as CapCut, it finally has audio extraction inside the app. Small steps, small steps.
You can now update your username on Messenger.
Threads has added a new spoiler tag for posts, similar to Reddit. Thank goodness as I am getting tired of TV shows being spoiled!!
TikTok
Here we go again… Trump is going to extend the TikTok deadline once more!!!!
Not sure if your account is working properly? Run a new “Account Check” to be sure!
Often sell on TikTok? You could get awarded a badge to set your profile and brand apart.
A new content library has been added inside TikTok Studio! You can now add content from film, TV, and more to your videos.
TikTok is testing a new way for you to find your new favorite accounts.
X
Eeek! It looks like if advertisers don’t start buying ads on X, the social media company is going to sue. That sounds like a great business plan!
A new feature called “Interests” is being tested on X, where it will show you similar content to content you like on the platform.
After the Trump and Elon feud, X soared to #23 in the App Store from #68.
YouTube
Creators on YouTube can now experiment with A/B tests of thumbnails in different languages to help their global reach.
RIP Ad Blocker. YouTube says no more!

The UK government is looking to have a closing time on social media for teens. Could this work? I’m not so sure…

Snapchat is trying to push brands to buy ads on the app as the potential TikTok ban looms.
Snapchat has launched Lens+, which gives you exclusive access to AR experiences. I guess as a way to see how well it does before launching its AR glasses next year…
Snapchat and McDonalds? Yup, it looks like Snapchat is partnering with the McDonald’s App to promote Snapchat+ membership.

Meta AI is spilling secrets
Well, if you asked Meta AI anything since it launched, you might have regretted that this past week.
It seems that people have discovered (pun, very much intended) that the Meta AI app has a Discover feed, where you can see what type of questions and prompts users have asked of the AI.
And, friends, it’s been a DOOZY of discovery!!!
If people knew their most mundane, wild, and sometimes OUTRAGEOUS questions, thoughts, and prompts would be available for all to see, they might have thought twice about using the app.
But, sadly for them, they didn’t. And, luckily for us, they didn’t.
So if your family or friends are using Meta AI and have been asking some personal questions, you might warn them that they might want to stop soon.

Legit, every single one of these videos that use this makes me laugh so much. This absolute banger of a song is used ironically to show how something you “love” actually makes you want to scream.
How it works: Use the song to show a contrast: ask a question like “How does it feel working in ___?” and then cut to chaotic or exaggerated footage of you suffering or being dramatic.
Great for: Creators in service jobs, students, burnt-out workers, retail humor, and anyone with dry humor.

One of my favorite podcasts of all time had a LONG hiatus (not their own fault, as they all got laid off, and everyone was very sad), but now they are back!
Heavyweight is one of the most beautifully produced podcasts I have ever experienced, and I think everyone should listen to it at least once. There are so many gorgeous stories told throughout the various series, and I have yet to listen to one that hasn’t left me crying, thinking about how beautiful humans truly are.
